The Vile Creature

Halloween Short Scary Story

On the 31st October, my English Literacy facilitator decided that we should do something that connects to Halloween since it is Halloween day. Though, in Cambodia, we did not celebrate this festival much. So, in class, our facilitator gave a couple of words and a start phrase for us to write a story that relates to Halloween. Below is a short story that I wrote with a few other students….

The Halloween pumpkin turned into a repulsive malicious horrid wicked zombie; with a bloodcurdling face, beastly head, spiky reek hair, putrid skin peeling off bit by bit, and ghastly eyeballs that about to fall off its creepy enormous eyes. I instantly wiped my shocking eyes as if I was hallucinating. Still, nothing had changed. What to do? Hair-raising. Terrified. Panicked had taken over me. The cloth I was holding that I used to wipe my eyes had become my one and only weapon against what it front of me. It swiftly escaped my hand and flew directly toward the vile monstrous demon’s eerie face like (what I think it should be) a grenade.

Little by little, I can smell the dreadful wind of the sinister creature getting closer to me as if my powerful gear had no effect on it. So…., I start to run. Run to escape. Run to survive. Run to get as far away from this disgusting evil poisonous gross varmint, aka zombie, as possible. Instantaneously, I felt as though I was sedated. All I heard was a creepy high-pitched laugh like those ones of a wicked witch.

I remember nothing else when I woke up again. I felt sophisticated. I felt trapped. Trapped in a wooden tiny spooky frightful box. I tried to push it open, but it didn’t budge. Where am I exactly? Am I buried in a…..coffin? I started questioning myself with all the possibility. Suddenly, I felt the box move shakingly. I tried to pound on the top piece of the box, but it did no good. What can I do? What if it is the ugly creature again? This is no good. Stop your wild imagination, silly head. I tried to push the stupid box again, but it did not help at all. I remember what my mom used to tell me when I’m panicked, I should just think of all the good things that had happened in my life. I closed my eyes and started to picture those moments. BOOM! Abruptly, I opened my eyes and I was now in my messy bedroom with all my family eyes staring at me excitedly.

“Happy birthday to you!” Everyone, including my relatives and friends, gathered me.

“We make this for you because you born on Halloween day.” Mom hugged me while daddy put the birthday hat on my tiny head.

“You might get a nightmare honey. However, let’s enjoy the party together.” My mom hugged me once again and brought the birthday cake with all the beautiful candles lit up.

When the blue cake got closer to me, I could clearly picture the zombie’s creepy eyes at the side of it. I was shaking with fear. Sweating. I feel like I was surrounded by boiling lava. What am I supposed to do? Run? God! Help me! I didn’t want to die now, I’m still too young. When the cake finally in front of me, the zombie popped out and grabbed my head. Then…..everything turned dark…

The end!
