AMERICA is not just a country…

“The only thing new in the world is the history you don’t know.” (Quote by Harry S. Truman)

I couldn’t agree more to this quote because it is absolutely true! Only the past lessons could actually help us to shape our future. We’re living in the world where everyone is interdependent and by learning about America’s history we are not just understanding their successes and failures but we can see how their actions can easily affect us and the world.

I am not going to share everything that I learned in my English literacy class to you since it’s going to be too much [and boring], however,  I am going to spotlight something that I found intriguing from the lessons.

My English literacy facilitator, Cara Shelton, had exposed the class to many Commonlit texts about America’s history and one of the most interesting text I read so far is the “The Great Depression” passage by Mike Kubic.

It amazed me to see how the banks were playing a massive role in the economic recession. Furthermore, this economic crisis had not just affected America but also other nations in the world. Thanks to President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who had helped to reform and recovery this economic crisis by employing citizens through country’s various projects.

This personally makes me think that powerful countries like America can easily influence developing countries like Cambodia; therefore I should always be aware of what’s going on in the world in order to be prepared.
